Biography
Born in England, he lives in Fondi, between Rome and Naples, working as a university teacher and freelance editor.
His novel manuscript A WINTER'S CHILD was shortlisted for the Lichfield Prize 2004. An accomplished short story writer, he was among the winners of the 1997 Independent on Sunday/Bloomsbury Short Story Competition. 'The Zero Worm' received honourable mention in the 2007 Best Fantasy & Horror, and 'The Scent Of Cinnamon', published in One Story, won an O. Henry Prize. His work has appeared in several anthologies, including NEW WRITING 15 (Granta/The British Council).
His debut novel LITTLE MONSTERS (Picador, 2008) and short story collection THE SCENT OF CINNAMON (Salt, 2008) have received critical acclaim. His next novel ANY HUMAN FACE will be published by Picador in early 2010.
