Biography
Mari was born in Westminster but moved to the north east as a child. Sponsored by the Home Office, she graduated from Teesside University before beginning a career as a Probation Officer. Her experience of working with offenders both in the community and in prisons informs and adds authenticity to her crime writing.
She has spent the last six years working as a film/television scriptwriter but has also written plays for theatre and for radio. Since she began writing fulltime, Mari has gained places on two prestigious writing schemes:
Supported by her regional screen agency - Northern Film & Media - Mari developed a low budget feature film with producer/script consultant, Phil Parker. She also received a bursary to write the first episode of a television serial based on characters in her crime novel, THE MURDER WALL, as part of the BBC's North East Voices Drama Development Scheme. This included mentoring by writer/producer, Michael Chaplin.
She has two sons and lives in Northumberland with her partner, a retired murder detective.
Her first three novels THE MURDER WALL, SETTLED BLOOD and THE LAST DECEPTION will be published by Pan Macmillan.
