Biography
Matt Dickinson is a writer and filmmaker known for his award winning documentaries for National Geographic Television, the Discovery Channel and the BBC. He has a passion for mountaineering, and is one of the very few filmmakers who have ever filmed on the summit of Mount Everest. The best-selling account of his ascent of Everest's deadly North Face was published as 'The Death Zone' in the UK, and 'The Other Side of Everest' in the USA-and has received widespread critical acclaim.
'Dickinson brings out splendidly the sheer terror at the heart of the whole mountain climbing project.' (Independent on Sunday)
'This is a gripping account of filming-and surviving in the death zone.' (Mail on Sunday)
'Dickinson has an eye for meaningful detail and storytelling talent…a rollicking, insightful and harrowing ride.' (The New York Times Book Review)
Matt's recent writing credits include two novels; 'High Risk' and 'Black Ice'-both published by Random House and in numerous foreign editions.
'Murder, madness and betrayal-BLACK ICE is adventure as good as it gets.' (Stephen Coonts)
He is the author of three screenplays; the thrillers--'Upgrade' (optioned by Transfilm 2006) 'Snow Red' (optioned by Doris Inc 2007) and the horror genre screenplay 'The Healing House' (2007).
