Biography
Lou came from Cuba as a young kid to the United States, and grew up in Washington DC. He attended the University of Maryland where he majored in English and minored in Film, so he especially liked English films. His passion for reading led to a passion for writing, which led to his becoming a reporter, first at the Washington Post then USA Today. Bored by writing just the facts, he decided to create his own, as a fiction writer-screenwriter in the fictional epicenter of America: Los Angeles, California.
Although a serious "artist", Lou has had four "B" movies produced, one of which, ELECTRA, numbers 33d in Maxim magazine's list of "The 50 Coolest 'B' Films of All Time". He has several "A" scripts optioned, including the family-friendly "Jake For Mayor" (based on the true story of a Colorado town that ran a dog for mayor), now in pre-production. Lou's most recent short story, The Mirror Cracked", was published two years ago in a major horror anthology. The book was nominated for a 2007 Bram Stoker Award.
Lou is single, having vowed to postpone marriage until he cracks the New York Times Bestseller List. But that stipulation is becoming less rigid as his bird of youth tries to flutter away.
