Biography
PAUL T. USHER
Paul is a screenwriter and producer. He graduated with a letter of commendation from Bournemouth University's prestigious BA (Hons) Scriptwriting degree course. He took his first job as a runner for Talkback Thames Television whilst continuing to write. He worked as Assistant Director on ITV's popular police drama The Bill and was later hired as Script Co-ordinator for Five's continuing drama Family Affairs.
Paul spent five years working as an agent at CMM (London), representing writers, directors and line producers for film and television as well as below-the-line heads of department. During this time Paul advised producers extensively on legals, financials and crewing.
Paul's writing career started in theatre at the age of eighteen. His plays for stage, which he also directed, include My Recreation (Cheltenham Everyman, 1997) which won the Enter-Stage-Write competition in the same year, The Last Request (Axiom Theatre, 1998) and Quick Perfect Bliss (Axiom Theatre, 1998). He is returning to theatre, developing The Invincible Hero for performance in 2013, which is based on his experiences in film and television.
Paul has written and produced a number of short films including Fugado, Paulie and The Idiot. In 2010 Paul wrote high-concept action feature film The Hold, which sold to Instinctive Film and will be directed by Joern Heitmann in South Africa in 2012. Paul was subsequently invited to join the company as a producer in his own right. As a producer Paul has a number of projects in development at Instinctive and continues to write.
