Carole Blake is delighted to have sold UK rights in Lawrence's new novel JOHN SATURNALL'S FEAST to Bloomsbury after a hotly contested auction with several other British publishers bidding.  It went to a 'best bids' round and Bloomsbury won with a better offer than anyone else, and a package that included an impressive marketing presentation and a wonderfully enthusiastic meeting with the author.  Sceptre were the underbidders.

German rights were sold to Knaus two days earlier.  They have published all of Lawrence's work, and have made several of his books into bestsellers in German.  American rights were sold to Grove Atlantic some years ago.

Publishers were bidding on a partial manuscript: delivery is expected in a year.  Lawrence's last novel, IN THE SHAPE OF A BOAR, was published by Weidenfeld in 2000.
