WITNESS THE NIGHT (formerly THE TYRANNY OF DREAMS) longlisted for Man Asian Literary Prize 2009

July 24, 2009  credit: Anshuman Sen WITNESS THE NIGHT  (THE TYRANNY OF DREAMS), the debut novel by Kishwar Desai, has been longlisted for the Man Asian Literary Prize 2009.

Now in its third year, the prize is an annual award for an "Asian novel unpublished in English": previous winners of the prize include WOLF TOTEM by Jiang Rong and Miguel Syjuco's ILUSTRADO. The Administrative Committee of the Prize consists of Prof. Christopher Hutton (Professor of English, The University of Hong Kong), Prof. David Parker (Professor of English , The Chinese University of Hong Kong) and Ms Sue Gourlay (Administrator).

A short list of five candidates will be announced in approximately mid-October 2009 with the winner being announced in late November 2009.

The prize for the winning author is $10,000.
