Film rights in THIRTEEN HOURS by Deon Meyer optioned by Malcolm Kohll and Robert Fig

July 30, 2009  Film rights in THIRTEEN HOURS by Deon Meyer have been optioned to a London-based South African film-making team Malcolm Kohll and Robert Fig. Blake Friedmann client Roger Spottiswoode (UNDER FIRE, TOMORROW NEVER DIES, SHAKE HANDS WITH THE DEVIL) is attached as director and script consultant, with Kohll adapting the novel and Fig set to executive produce.


Deon Meyer, 'the King of South African crime', has been published in 19 countries, and won major crime fiction awards in France and Germany.  THIRTEEN HOURS, his latest thriller, is a bestseller in the original Afrikaans - a breath-taking return for detective Benny Griessel, pursuing the murderer of an American student over thirteen tense hours in Cape Town.  Rights are sold to Hodder in the UK, Grove Atlantic in the US, Random in Canada, Le Seuil in France, Aufbau in Germany and Centerpolygraph in Russia, for publication in 2010.
