Graham Lester-George's short film WASHDAYS takes top prize at the Soho Rushes Short Film Festival

August 3, 2009 The Soho Rushes Short Film Festival held its glittering awards ceremony at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London on Friday (July 30th), and Blake Friedmann client, Graham Lester-George, scooped the top prize with his poignant ten-minute film WASHDAYS.

WASHDAYS tells the story of eleven-year-old Kyle, who has an embarrassing problem: he's a bedwetter. His mum thinks making him wash his own sheets will cure him, but it only makes him late for school. His teacher demands a note, but when Kyle's mum writes the unvarnished truth, he bunks off and goes in search of his own solution. WASHDAYS effectively captures the mindset of an eleven-year-old, and the exploration of the parent-child relationship is ultimately inspiring.

Graham Lester-George has written for several BBC TV series, including Doctors and Holby City. His writing credits also include several pieces for Radio 4, and he received an Arts Council grant to write his novel THE CHAIN BRIDGE.

His biography is available here.
