Zina Rohan interviewed by theinterviewonline.co.uk

August 5, 2009 Nicola Barranger of The Interview Online has interviewed many great writers - from Tom Stoppard and Arthur Miller to Louis de Bernieres and Monica Lewycka - and Zina Rohan, author of THE OFFICER'S DAUGHTER, can now be added to the list. She recently sat down with Nicola to talk about the true story behind her novel, as told to her by a family member.

THE OFFICER'S DAUGHTER (described as a 'tour de force' by Historical Novel Society Magazine) follows Marta, a young Polish woman who is exiled - along with a group of fellow Girl Guides - to a remote convent by the arrival of the Nazis at the beginning of World War II. She travels across war-torn Europe, from the logging camps of Siberian Kazakhstan to the Red Cross field hospitals of Persia, and eventually arrives in post-war Britain.

THE OFFICER'S DAUGHTER is published by Portobello in the UK, with rights also sold in Denmark and Poland.

'What a story, what a heroine! Passion and pride, bravery and foolishness - it's all here.'  - Isabel Allende

'Wartime romance of hardship, character and sweeping historical changes - think Doctor Zhivago.' - Sue Baker, Publishing News (A PN Quarterly Highlight)
