KAROO BOY longlisted for International Literature Award - House of World Cultures, Berlin

Published in Germany by Liebeskind in 2008, the translation of Troy Blacklaws' KAROO BOY has now been longlisted for the first-ever German 'International Literature Award', presented annually to the author and translator of an outstanding work of contemporary international prose fiction in German translation by the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin.The award has two aims: to draw attention to extraordinary new works of international literature from across the globe and to pay tribute to the mediatory role played by literary translators.
The shortlist will be announced on September 2nd and the winner awarded at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin on the evening of September 30th, 2009.

KAROO BOY has also been published by Duckworth in the UK, by Harcourt Brace in the US & Canada, by Double Storey in South Africa, by Flammarion/Points Seuil in France, and by Ambo Anthos in Holland.
In France it was chosen by readers of Lire Magazine as one of the best works of foreign fiction of 2006 and was also shortlisted for the Prix Femina for foreign fiction 2006.
In South Africa KAROO BOY was shortlisted for the Sunday Times Fiction Award 2005.
