Blake Friedmann welcomes David Hewson
January 19, 2010
Blake Friedmann are delighted to announce that David Hewson, author of the Nic Costa series of thrillers, is joining the agency, to be represented by Carole Blake for book rights and Conrad Williams for film & television rights.
David said: "Contrary to popular belief on Twitter I did not move to Blake Friedmann only because Carole Blake's tweets brighten and illuminate my morning, and those of thousands around the world. They just confirmed my conviction that I wanted to join the starry client list Carole and her team have assembled over the years, and an agency that seems absolutely attuned to the challenges, threats and opportunities of the fast-changing book world."
Carole Blake said: "I admire David's intelligent and atmospheric thrillers. I first read them for pleasure because of their Italian settings, then I met him at Macmillan's dinner for their crime writers during the 2009 Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival in Harrogate. I became a fan of his fascinating blog and content-filled website. It's great to have a chance to work with him. I haven't taken on a new client for a couple of years and am looking forward to - hopefully - being able to bring him to wider international audiences."
Hewson joins from Curtis Brown who represented him for 15 years. He is currently researching his next novel in Venice.
Praise from his peers:

'David Hewson is one of the finest thriller writers working today. A born stylist.' -- Steve Berry
