Andrew Dilger’s greyhound memoir to Summersdale
March 30, 2010
Jennifer Barclay of Summersdale has bought UK and BC rights, excluding Canada, to Andrew Dilger's heartwarming DASH - BITCH OF THE YEAR, a memoir set over the first twelve months after adopting a retired champion greyhound, Dash. At the same time, Andrew proposes to his girlfriend, and has to plan their wedding, making for romance and mayhem all at once.
As Jennifer Barclay says:
'We loved the title and Andrew's voice right away, and it was clearly a story full of heart. We love dogs - we have our own office dog - and having done well with TWENTY WAGGING TALES and DOG HEROES as well as the Fred Basset and Gerald Durrell and Doreen Tovey books for animal lovers, we immediately knew we'd have fun publishing this book. Dash is adorable, and we hope to publish in time for the wedding season in 2011.'
Summersdale bought rights from Isobel Dixon of Blake Friedmann, who will be selling US, film and translation rights.
