Under the expert supervision of the instructors, the 10 winners learned how to build a fire, make their own shelters, which plants and fruit to eat in the forest, and how to kill and skin animals. Most importantly they got to meet and quiz David on his survival skills and on Max Gordon, the teen hero of DANGER ZONE: THE DEVIL'S BREATH. In the photo on the right David keeps smiling while doing the strangest book signing ever: in a Stafordshire forest, sitting on a tree trunk, leaning on an upturned cardboard box.
